The human cost of negativity.

Speaking to a client yesterday who just resigned from a 10 year career in marketing with the same employer. Why?

The industry had become about redundancy and layoffs to cut costs. This had become too much. You will argue these are necessary business decisions to ensure the business survives during the pandemic. And, you are probably right. However, we must consider the impact on the human behind the decisions.

More importantly, leaders need to gather around those that are left and create support, reassurance and translate a vision so our teams know there is a plan for them. Simply assuming that those who are left should be grateful for a job is not enough. Especially when your competition is looking for an excellent employee and is willing to pay and promise more…
